Redesigned and even simpler: Instead of the seven categories from before, the new Start Center of the new version of TuneUp Utilities has four areas guiding you directly to the optimisation and customisation functions. At the same time, you can see the health of your PC at a glance. Problems or bottlenecks are displayed and upcoming optimisation steps recommended. The TuneUp Gadget gives you a brief overview of system health and easy access to key optimisation features without having to start TuneUp Utilities. The TuneUp Gadget displays your PC's health directly on the Desktop, gives you direct access to key functions, and runs under Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Optimised performance in Turbo Mode

Once you switch on the Turbo Mode from TuneUp Utilities, functions that are used rarely or not at all including planned background maintenance tasks are disabled. This provides concentrated power for the currently active program, or for more frames per seconds in games. If you need specific Windows services such as the Search function or the Sidebar, background programs such as printing or planned Windows maintenance tasks, Turbo Mode can be easily switched off again. If desired, the user can also decide which programs should be switched off to increase performance.

Live Optimisation and optimisation report

Live Optimisation automatically prevents background programs from reserving too much PC performance. Programmes operate considerably faster and games run with visibly more frames per second. TuneUp Utilities optimises system and programme settings, reduces the number of unnecessary auto start programmes, and disables rarely used Windows Services that slow your computer down. It also eliminates temporary and garbage files, allowing for a quicker start-up and shut down. The optimisation report clearly shows how many PC Problems were fixed, displays all performance organisation steps taken at a glance. It also gives an overview of the actions of the last 7 days, 30 days and since the installation of TuneUp Utilities.

A Smart Move in the right direction – System Maintenance

The maintenance performed by TuneUp Utilities fixes problems in the registry, deletes orphaned shortcuts and unnecessary files, rearranges data on the hard disk, and reduces possible sources of error. Automatic Maintenance is performed regularly at a time you specify or when you are not actively working on your PC. Using “Smart Move” you can configure Automatic Maintenance and 1-Click Maintenance independently — for your personal maintenance programme.

TuneUp Utilities’ defragmentation option reduces program loading time, accelerates file opening and copying, repairs structural defects, reduces the size of the registry and improves overall system performance. Choose between Fast defragmentation or Thorough defragmentation. The registry can be defragmented the next time you start your PC so you do not have to interrupt your work. Using a thorough hard disk inspection, TuneUp Utilities ensures reliable operation of your hard disk, performs complicated changes in the Windows registry and restores Windows icons. Repairing important file libraries and registry entries of the Windows Update and Windows Installer functions is no problem. You can fix typical Windows problems, finding errors on data carriers and fixing them automatically — about 60 of the most frequent problems under XP, Vista, and Windows 7. TuneUp Utilities can even restore files deleted by accident — quickly, easily, and reliably.
